Exploring the Neighbourhoods of Victoria: A Journey Through the City’s Charming Areas

Cook Street Village
Cook Street Village is like a cozy, friendly haven, a short hop from downtown but with a vibe all its own. It’s where neighbors greet each other by name, and every face seems to carry a smile. Our lazy afternoons often begin at Moka House – possibly the coziest café in Victoria – followed by a leisurely browse through the village’s unique shops.
Don’t miss Empire Donuts for a sweet treat; their donuts are out of this world! Big Wheel Burger serves up some of the best burgers for lunch or dinner. The best part? The Village is just a stroll away from the ocean or Beacon Hill Park, ideal for a picnic with ocean views or amidst verdant parkland. Cook Street Village truly embodies Victoria’s friendly, laid-back spirit – it’s a big part of why we fell in love with this city. 🌳🌊🍩
Fernwood
Fernwood, our artsy enclave, is a vibrant mix of urban and historic. We adore exploring its historic buildings, like Vic High, and hanging out in Fernwood Square. The Belfry Theater, The Fernwood Pub, Stage Wine Bar, and Little June Cafe make the square a lively hub of activity.
Fernwood’s unique vibe is irresistible – funky, eclectic, and full of character. The historic buildings, each with a story to tell, make our walks through the neighborhood feel like stepping into a living gallery. It’s a community where creativity flows as freely as the conversations at the local cafes. 🎭🍷🎨
Oak Bay
Oak Bay, synonymous with elegance, feels like Victoria’s own Beverly Hills. Our favorite pastime is strolling along its scenic waterfront, admiring the grand homes and lush landscapes. “The Avenue” buzzes with boutique shops and quaint cafes, perfect for a relaxed day out.
This prestigious area blends urban sophistication with natural beauty. We especially love the Uplands for its breathtaking homes and landscaped gardens. Oak Bay is where you can sip coffee in chic cafes one moment and enjoy stunning oceanfront views the next – it’s the best of both worlds. 🌳⛵️🖼️
LoJo or Lower Johnson Street
Lower Johnson Street, or LoJo, is a burst of color and trendiness. Each shop is a new discovery, offering everything from chic fashion to quirky gifts. Our strolls here are filled with browsing local brands and artisan creations – true retail therapy!
But LoJo is more than shopping; it’s a cultural hub where street performances and lively events add to its dynamic vibe. We love the blend of old-world charm and urban life here. Whether shopping, dining, or just soaking up the atmosphere, LoJo is a must-visit for anyone who loves a vibrant city experience. 🛍️🌈☕️

We’re captivated by Bastion Square’s blend of old-world charm and contemporary energy. The market, dining scene, and cultural events make it a focal point of city life. It’s where you can shop for unique gifts, enjoy a romantic dinner, and experience live performances, all in the heart of Victoria. 🏛️🎨🍽️

Beacon Hill Park is our serene getaway in the city. It’s where nature’s tranquility meets urban vibrancy. With picturesque ponds, rugged beaches, and an array of green spaces, it’s ideal for peaceful strolls or family outings, complete with a children’s farm and sports facilities.
Victoria’s Chinatown

Victoria’s Chinatown is a vibrant mosaic of history and culture. As the oldest Chinatown in Canada, it’s a bustling area filled with colorful shops and delicious eateries. Wandering through Fan Tan Alley and exploring the markets is like a journey through a living history book.
Fort Street
Fort Street is a delightful blend of past and present. With antique stores and heritage buildings, it’s a journey through history. The street also buzzes with modern life, featuring trendy cafes and eateries – a perfect mix of Victoria’s diverse charm.

It’s a lively hub for locals and tourists alike, filled with cultural events and scenic beauty. Whether it’s a romantic evening stroll or an afternoon adventure, Inner Harbour is a must-see.
Market Square
Market Square is a lively village in the heart of downtown, with historic charm and a courtyard that feels like a scene from a European town. It’s not just a shopping destination; it’s a vibrant part of Victoria’s soul where history, culture, and community come together. It’s also home to our favorite brewery. 🛍️🎉🍽️
Quadra Village
Just a 15-minute walk from downtown, Quadra Village is a secret gem. With unique shops like the Woodenshoe Deli and Caffe Fantastico, it’s perfect for a leisurely exploration. The vintage game store and Crystal Pool for swimming make it an unexpected delight.
