Best Places in Victoria to Enjoy the Sunset

Victoria’s Most Breathtaking Sunsets: A Personal Journey

Living in a tall building downtown we are treated to some of the best sunset views but when we are feeling more adventurous these are some of our favorite spots to take in the view.

Here’s my take on the best spots to witness this daily spectacle.

Victoria’s Inner Harbour

Encircled by the grandeur of the Fairmont Empress and the British Columbia Parliament Buildings, the Inner Harbour is more than just a picturesque setting; it’s where the evening sky dances in hues of pink and purple, creating a canvas that never fails to amaze me.

Ogden Point Breakwater

A leisurely stroll on this 1.6KM walkway unfurls a dramatic seascape against the backdrop of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Reaching the lighthouse at the end feels like touching the edge of the world, with endless ocean and sky merging into a sunset spectacle.

Dallas Road

This stretch is a treasure trove of secluded spots perfect for a quiet, reflective moment as the day fades. The beauty of Dallas Road lies in its ability to offer solitude and a front-row seat to nature’s grand display.

Clover Point Park

Famed for its panoramic ocean views, the park is a hub for kite flyers and nature lovers. I find solace at the peninsula’s edge, where the world seems to pause and the horizon ignites in fiery colors.

Macaulay Point Park

Nestled in Esquimalt, this 19-acre park is my secret escape. The historical gun emplacements provide a unique vantage point to view the sun’s descent over the Strait of Juan de Fuca, wrapping the day in tranquility.

Mount Douglas

Be it a rewarding hike or a scenic drive, reaching the summit of Mount Douglas is always worth the effort. At 205 meters high, the panoramic view of Victoria engulfed in twilight is simply breathtaking.

Saxe Point

This park’s blend of manicured gardens and rugged shoreline makes it an idyllic spot for sunset watchers and lovers alike. Watching the sun disappear beneath the waves here is like witnessing a live painting unfold.

As I recount these experiences, I’m reminded that Victoria’s allure extends far beyond its historical landmarks. It’s in these quiet, majestic moments of sunset that the city truly reveals its romantic soul.
