A Summer Wine Adventure Near Victoria
From sipping exquisite wines to discovering hidden farm stands with the cutest “honour boxes” for everything from fresh eggs to homemade pies.
Let me take you through some of my favorite stops!
Church & State Wines

My first stop was at Church & State Wines in Brentwood Bay. The moment I stepped onto their wrap-around terrace, I knew I was in for a treat. The Tasting Bar and Bistro here, open most of the year, is an absolute stunner. The atmosphere of the place is as captivating as the wines themselves. Sipping their award-winning selections while soaking in the view was the perfect start to my wine-tasting adventure.
DeVine Vineyards & Spirits

Then, it was time to meet the passionate people behind DeVine Vineyards & Spirits. Winemaker Ken Winchester, with his Californian experience and love for cool-climate grapes, has created something truly special. The commitment to organic farming here is admirable, and according to Winchester, it’s all about creating balance. Tasting their carefully crafted wines, I could really sense the dedication and love poured into every bottle.
The Roost Farm Centre & Highland House Farm Winery

Next up was The Roost Farm Centre & Highland House Farm Winery. This place is a treasure! Not only did I get to taste their delightful white and various fruit wines, but I also indulged in some seasonal bakery treats. Eating in their quirky refurbished bus outside added a fun twist to the experience. And the bistro lunch and farm tour were just icing on the cake – don’t miss out on their ‘wine cellar dungeon’!
Invinity Sparkling Wine House

My final stop was at Invinity Sparkling Wine House, and oh, what a finale it was! Invinity is all about refined taste and elegance. Their sparkling wines are like liquid artistry, each sip taking you on a journey of flavors and craftsmanship. Celebrating the art of winemaking, Invinity’s offerings are perfect for turning any occasion into a celebration.
Each winery had its unique charm and story, adding layers of enjoyment to the tastings.
So, if you’re around Victoria and love a good glass of wine, these South Island wineries are definitely worth a visit. Cheers to summer and the wonderful world of wines! 🍷🌞🌿
